Downloads vs upload hours

Download-based (Captivate, Transistor): upload as much as you like; price rises with audience size. Both say they will not shut your show off if you go over, but will ask you to upgrade.

Upload-hour-based (Buzzsprout): price rises with how much audio you publish. Unused hours do not roll over and extra hours are billed at your plan's hourly rate.

Rule of thumb: long or frequent episodes with a small audience favor download-based plans; short episodes with a big audience can favor hour-based plans. Check with the calculator.

Switching hosts: all three describe migration options; ask your old host to set a 301 redirect on your RSS feed so subscribers follow you.
